When asked, "Can a woman have it all?" Lauren Jawno offers life balancing advice and tips. In a special Oil of Olay section in the December/January issue of More Magazine, Jawno gives women practical and grounded advice to More Magazine readers. Olay knows that the key to a happy and healthy life begins with taking care of yourself. In this fourth and final installment of the Olay Glow from Within series, we’ll uncover the secrets to keeping your life more balanced and less stressed.
Her Body of Work
Lauren Jawno is a life coach who advises, inspires and enables women to be the best they can be in all areas of their lives. “I challenge women to get real about their values, about the choices they make and about the life they are living.”
Lauren helps her clients determine if their actions are truly making them as happy as they can be. “We work together to recognize what actions are taking them closer – or further away – from the way they want to live their lives. Then we develop new goals and strategies to get them there.”
Body of Knowledge
As women, we’re all busy and require more time. It’s especially difficult to manage responsibilities during the hectic holiday season. Keep life in check by regularly assessing if you’re planning and being productive (in control of your life) or reactive (letting your life control you).
Maintain Balance
- Keep a journal and monitor how you’re spending time each day. Utilize this information to assess the way you are living your life.
- Set your priorities and then look at the amount of time you are investing in them. For example, if your top priority is family and you’re spending most of your time working, you need to evaluate how you can modify your work commitments.
- Use time effectively. For example, reply to emails during quiet times of day rather than hectic moments (e.g., in the late afternoon when you’re busy with kids and dinner).
- Learn to say “no” to the things that you don’t have time for and to things that don’t enhance your life.
Easy ways to enjoy less stress:
1. Be true to yourself. Living an authentic life is less stressful.
2. Be self-aware and proactive. Change the things that aren't working for you.
3. Be organized. Ensure your time is associated with specific results.
4. Anticipate stressful issues. Then develop strategies to deal with them.
5. Pamper yourself. Take a long warm shower, read a book, go shopping.
6. Exercise daily. It reduces stress and builds stamina.
7. Eat a balanced, natural diet. Food affects mood and energy.
8. Make time for yourself. When you look and feel good, you deal with life better.
